1. Sea Salt Water

A mix of sea salt and water is an old tried and true remedy for a toothache. It is a simple remedy that works for a lot of toothache sufferers. Mix a glass of water with about a half teaspoon of sea salt and gargle with this mixture as often as you can.

2.  Clove oil or essential oils

Clove is well-known for being one of the best toothache remedies around. The best way to apply it is to mix some clove in olive oil and rub it in the aching tooth. If you have access to clove essential oil, this is even more powerful. You gently rub it, just a drop or two, on the tooth and gums.

3. Witch Hazel

Another common household item, witch hazel, is also a great remedy. You put a couple drops of witch hazel on a cotton swab and gently press it on the tooth and gums and hold it there for a short while. You can repeat this remedy throughout the day and night until it begins to soothe the pain.

4. Tee tree oil or Melaleuca

Two names for the same thing, tee tree oil and melaleuca, is also a wonderful at home toothache remedy. You apply this oil as you would the clove oil or with a cotton swab, and allow it to rest in that area for a good while.

5. Hot or Cold Compress

A hot or cold compress is great to instantly soothe the pain of a toothache. Something as simple as a few ice cubes in a bag or a heating pad will give you some quick relief.

If you have tooth pain that is consistent, it is wise to visit your dentist for a check up and explain what’s been going on. You may need surgery or a tooth pulled. Don’t continue to suffer if this occurs often.
